Images of objects
The images on the pages about runestones, weapons, jewellery and silver andships and woodcarving are the museums’ own photographs, from the Museum of Cultural History (Kulturhistorisk museum), the University Museum of Bergen, the NTNU University Museum, the Swedish History Museum (Historiska museet), Gotland Museum, the National Museum of Denmark (Nationalmuseet) and the Swedish National Heritage Board (Riksantikvarieämbetet). The drawings of runestones and of the carvings at Urnes stave church are by Jonas Lau Markussen (gelmir.com). All are shared under a Creative Commons licence (CC BY or CC BY-SA), and beneath each image you will find who took it, the licence and a link to the museum’s page about the object. We have only resized the images, and cut off a printed caption strip at the bottom of the photo of the Heggen weather vane.
The image shown when a link to the website is shared uses Mårten Teigen’s photo of the prow of the Oseberg ship (Museum of Cultural History, CC BY-SA 4.0). That image is therefore also shared under CC BY-SA 4.0.
