The Norwegian rune poem

Lǫgr er, fællr ór fjalle foss; en gull ero nosser.

Water is what falls from the mountain as a waterfall; but gold ornaments are costly things.

The Norwegian rune poem is from the 1200s and has one verse per rune. The original is in the public domain; the translations are our own.

Commentary

Norwegian geography in a single line. The second line is obscure and translated in different ways — nosser are probably costly ornaments.
